Did you open this email saying August and ask yourself, “Where did the summer go?”. It is crazy how quickly time can seem to move. Time does not speed up but when we fill every minute so fully we often do not even realize where time has gone. Busy is the word for our culture. Busyness causes us to miss so much. Sometimes we are so busy doing good things that we miss the most important things.
It is amazing the things that can take our time. There are new things being developed every day to attract our attention. Much of it is designed to get our attention and to keep it for long periods of time. All the while some of the most important things miss our time and attention.
Recently we talked about the fact that Jesus wants to give us life. The problem is that there is an enemy that wants to take that life from us. He wants to steal it, kill it and destroy it. That is not always done with things that are obviously evil or bad. Sometimes it is done by just filling our lives with things that just do not matter so we will not have the time or energy for the things that do.
As you feel summer starting to wind down, maybe it would be a good time to evaluate things in your life. As a matter of fact, here are a few good questions to ask if you want to experience life new and fresh:
- What do I need to stop doing?
- What do I need to start doing?
- Who is most important in my life and are they getting the best of me? If not, how do I change that?
- What is Jesus saying to me today?
Don’t allow life to go by wondering where it went. Be intentional about living. Jesus came for you to have life. An abundant life. So live it!
