April will bring with it one of the biggest days of the year for our church, Easter. All this month we will be focusing on what this day means to us. We could probably sum it up best in our word for the month, hope. Isn’t that really what Easter is all about? The hope that we receive from Jesus is immeasurable.
As we go through this month with our kids, (2-year olds through 6th grade) we will be talking about Jesus’ death and resurrection and that because of that, something good can come out of something bad even in our lives today. You will definitely want to be checking out the parent cues that come home with your child each week to continue the conversation at home.
In the lead up to Easter, our students (grades 7-12) will finish up their series “Best for Last”. What did Jesus say in the days leading up to his death and how does it impact my life?
Lastly, in the lead up to Easter, I want to encourage all kids, students and their families to be a part of a special experience Friday, April 19. Open Door will again be hosting “Journey to the Cross”. This year we are adding some specific elements to help kids as they walk through the hours before Jesus’ death. It will be a special time and opportunity for you as a family to reflect on what Jesus did for us.
